MARKET COMMENTARY

Indian benchmarks are expected to start the day on a negative note on Friday. The GIFT Nifty indicated that the Nifty 50 may extend losses amid weak global cues. Asian markets were trading on a mixed note.

In the commodities market, oil rose to its highest level since August after U.S. President Donald Trump delivered his latest ultimatum to Iran, indicating that the next 10 days will tell whether there will be an accord with Iran.

On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 82498.14 down by -1236.11 points or by -1.48 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25454.35 down by -365 points or by -1.41 %.

On the global front, European stocks ended lower on Thursday as investors weighed hawkish minutes from the Federal Reserve's January meeting and parsed weak earnings from the likes of Airbus and Renault.

Back home, Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. 37728943.00, Kwality Wall's (India) Ltd. 35430376.00, Tata Steel Ltd. 27749813.00, Eternal Ltd. 23971631.00, HDFC Bank Ltd. 21209234.00.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 374.40 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 93811.52 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 209490 with a total turnover of Rs. 35724.72 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 4834112 with a total turnover of Rs. 322861.24 Crore.

Total numbers of contracts for index options were 79530967 with a total turnover of Rs. 13428775.63 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 10932803 with a total turnover of Rs. 766768.85 Crore.

The FIIs on 18/02/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 9401.64 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 532.29 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 7781.55 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 175.74 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 1620.09 Crore and Rs. 356.55.
