Indian benchmarks are expected to start the day on a flat note on Wednesday after a technology-led sell-off on Wall Street overnight amid concerns around growth expectations in the AI segment.

Meanwhile Asian shares were trading on a mixed note as traders digested news that the UAE will exit the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). The S&P ASX and the Kospi were trading 0.23 per cent and 0.24 per cent down, respectively.

Overseas, on Wall Street, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 25.86 points, or 0.05%, to 49,141.93, the S&P 500 lost 35.11 points, or 0.49%, to 7,138.80 and the ‌Nasdaq Composite lost ⁠223.30 points, or 0.90%, to 24,663.80.

In commodities, Brent crude rose 0.36 per cent to $111.6 per barrel on the Intercontinental Exchange as the opening of the Strait of Hormuz gets delayed amid stalled US-Iran talks, while the UAE announced its exit from OPEC, with effect from May 1.

On Tuesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 76886.91 down by -416.72 points or by -0.54 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23995.7 down by -97 points or by -0.4 %.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 520.60 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 138087.33 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 228248 with a total turnover of Rs. 36595.49 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 3387570 with a total turnover of Rs. 224016.36 Crore.

Total numbers of contracts for index options were 441866006 with a total turnover of Rs. 70126998.39 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 7123370 with a total turnover of Rs. 495552.21 Crore.

The FIIs on 28/04/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 11704.78 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 311.32 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 15893.12 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 322.80 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -4188.34 Crore and Rs. -11.48.
