Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 are likely to see a flat to negative start on December 4, tracking cues from GIFT Nifty trading around 24,508.50, a short while ago this morning.

Bulls further tighten their holding on Dalal Steet as the benchmarks extended the gains on third consecutive session on December 3 with Nifty above 24,450, amid buying across sectors, barring FMCG.

At the close, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 80845.75 up by 597.67 points or by 0.74 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24457.15 up by 181.1 points or by 0.75 %.

On the global front, equity markets in the Asia-Pacific region exhibited a mxied trend this morning. Nikkei was down 0.2 per cent. Kospi had plunged 1.6 per cent. Whereas, Taiwan gained 0.5 per cent and Straits Times was up 0.3 per cent.

Overnight in the US, the S&P and the NASDAQ clinched new record highs even as the indices eked marginal gains. Dow Jones, however, was down for the second straight day ahead of Powell's comments and payroll data.

Back home Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Tata Steel Ltd. 35527228.00, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. 23174488.00, ITC Ltd. 22218251.00, HDFC Bank Ltd. 21705121.00, Bharat Electronics Ltd. 21405136.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 366.06 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 115560.45 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 362044 with a total turnover of Rs. 24871.85 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1328135 with a total turnover of Rs. 87652.11 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 204442524 with a total turnover of Rs. 12770597.99 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 6316257 with a total turnover of Rs. 425876.06 Crore.

The FIIs on 03/12/2024 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 16809.49 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 606.60 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 13015.94 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 312.45 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 3793.55 Crore and Rs. 294.15
