Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty are expected to open on a positive note on February 12, tracking gains in GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 25,995.50.

In the previous volatile session on February 11, the benchmark indices ended largely flat, as gains in auto, pharma, and PSU bank stocks helped offset losses in IT shares.

On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 84233.64 down by -40.28 points or by -0.05 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25953.85 up by 18.7 points or by 0.07 %.

On the global front, Asian markets were trading higher on Thursday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 surging past the 58,000 mark for the first time as its post-election rally continued to gather momentum. Investor optimism has been buoyed by stronger confidence in domestic politics and the economic policies of the ruling government. Last checked, Japan's Nikkei 225 index was up 0.5 per cent, South Korea's KOSPI index rose 1.9 per cent, and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.6 per cent. In the US markets, major stock indexes closed modestly lower on Wednesday as investors weighed a wave of corporate earnings alongside a stronger-than-expected US jobs report for January. Overnight, the S&P 500 settled flat, the Nasdaq Composite was down 0.16 per cent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.13 per cent. On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 80737 with a total turnover of Rs. 13883.86 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1349246 with a total turnover of Rs. 95597.26 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 53530880 with a total turnover of Rs. 9080966.43 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 9424454 with a total turnover of Rs. 697262.15 Crore.

The FIIs on 11/02/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 17879.87 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 264.43 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 17559.56 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 81.79 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 320.31 Crore and Rs. 182.64
