Pre-Session: GIFT Nifty signals subdued start; Asia markets tumble

Indian benchmark indices are likely to open on a muted note on October 30, tracking mixed cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading 55 points higher at 23,023.50 in early trade.



The domestic markets witnessed a strong rebound in the previous session on October 29, with the Nifty closing above the 22,900 mark, supported by broad-based buying across sectors, barring auto stocks.



On Thursday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 74151.04 up by 905.01 points or by 1.24 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22936.75 up by 237.9 points or by 1.05 %.



On the global front, Asia-Pacific markets were trading lower, tracking overnight moves on Wall Street after Alphabet Inc and Intel reported lower-than-expected earnings. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi fell 2.92 per cent and 5.47 per cent, respectively.



Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 fell 0.25 per cent and 0.35 per cent, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 1.38 per cent down.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 486.21 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 117989.20 Crore.



On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 83898 with a total turnover of Rs. 12891.60 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 964421 with a total turnover of Rs. 61156.78 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 58448526 with a total turnover of Rs. 8701980.64 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 5627461 with a total turnover of Rs. 373884.91 Crore.



The FIIs on 29/10/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 19096.46 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1562.95 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 16971.98 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 51.19 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 2124.48 Crore and Rs. 1511.76
