Mid-Session: Sensex, Nifty firm; FMCG, media and PSU bank stocks support

Indian benchmark indices continued to trade in positive territory during afternoon trade on October 29, supported by buying interest and foreign fund inflows



At 12:45 hours, the 30-share, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73708.75 up by 462.72 points or by 0.63 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22851.6 up by 152.75 points or by 0.67 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73901.18 and intraday low of 73181.9 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22874.15 and intraday low of 22656.75



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1859.40,+5.71%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 261.00,+3.94%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 455.25,+3.47%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 335.50,+2.76%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 310.00,+2.62%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Trent Ltd. (Rs. 2839.30,-2.36%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2244.85,-1.76%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 11454.25,-0.83%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 681.20,-0.69%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 168.00,-0.68%), among others.



Power index was at 6902.39 up by 82.58 points or by 1.21%. JSW Energy Ltd. (Rs. 512.00,+6.11%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 261.00,+3.94%), Adani Power Ltd. (Rs. 189.95,+2.84%), Adani Green Energy Ltd. (Rs. 1308.50,+2.79%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 310.00,+2.62%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4534 , shares advanced were 2271 while 2041 shares declined and 222 were unchanged.
