Sensex up nearly 170 points; CDS, IT stocks support

Indian benchmark indices opened on a muted note but soon moved into positive territory amid buying seen in index heavyweights including Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. Titan Company Ltd and Reliance Industries Ltd among others.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73415.41 up by 169.38 points or by 0.23 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22718.85 up by 20 points or by 0.09 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73506.93 and intraday low of 73181.9 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22737.45 and intraday low of 22656.75



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1805.40,+2.64%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 255.30,+1.67%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 446.85,+1.56%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4398.45,+1.35%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1172.40,+1.20%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Trent Ltd. (Rs. 2848.30,-2.05%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 11432.80,-1.01%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2265.45,-0.86%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3773.75,-0.82%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1647.00,-0.72%), among others.



CDS index was at 55725.73 up by 335.73 points or by 0.61%. Kalyan Jewellers India Ltd. (Rs. 518.30,+1.63%), Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. (Rs. 11540.00,+1.58%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4398.45,+1.35%), Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 1025.35,+1.31%), Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 1609.65,+0.73%),.



Auto index was at 56208.54 down by -384.68 points or by -0.68%. Schaeffler India Ltd. (Rs. 3550.10,-2.32%), Bosch Ltd. (Rs. 47000.00,-2.05%), Exide Industries Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3548 , shares advanced were 1899 while 1474 shares declined and 175 were unchanged.
