Pre-Session: Sensex, Nifty likely to open in green; Asia markets mixed

Indian benchmark indices are likely to open higher on October 29, tracking positive cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading 55 points higher at 22,789 in early trade.



The domestic markets ended lower in the previous session on October 28, with the Nifty closing near the 22,700 mark, weighed down by selling pressure in IT and oil and gas stocks.



On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 73246.03 down by -352.64 points or by -0.48 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22698.85 down by -50.9 points or by -0.22 %.



On the global front, Asian markets were trading mixed despite a slight cool-off in oil prices amid tensions in West Asia. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi were trading 0.15 per cent higher and 2.28 per cent lower, respectively.



Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 ended 0.19 per cent and 0.28 per cent up, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite settled 0.27 per cent up.



Back home, Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – HDFC Bank Ltd. 28534206.00, Reliance Industries Ltd. 21866598.00, Eternal Ltd. 21735164.00, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. 16835584.00, Infosys Ltd. 15636449.00,



On NSE, total number of shares traded was 456.74 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 128963.99 Crore.



On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 109022 with a total turnover of Rs. 16493.66 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1061938 with a total turnover of Rs. 64602.30 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 62253311 with a total turnover of Rs. 9242615.80 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 6086030 with a total turnover of Rs. 385048.63 Crore.



The FIIs on 28/10/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 30868.79 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1838.07 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 20284.89 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1167.27 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 10583.90 Crore and Rs. 670.80
