Pre-Session: GIFT Nifty signals subdued start; Jio Platforms listing in focus

Indian benchmark indices are likely to open lower on October 28, tracking weak cues from GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 130 points lower at 22,682 in early trade.



Markets ended nearly unchanged in the previous session amid volatility on the F&O expiry day, as investors remained cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s policy decision, amid elevated crude oil prices and renewed geopolitical tensions.



On Tuesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 73598.67 down by -8.08 points or by -0.01 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22749.75 down by -3.45 points or by -0.02 %.



On the global front, Asian markets were trading higher despite a marginal jump in oil prices amid tensions in West Asia. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi were trading 1.19 per cent and 6.1 per cent up, respectively.

Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 ended 0.03 per cent and 0.60 per cent up, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite settled 1.18 per cent up.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 544.98 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 119872.12 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 249309 with a total turnover of Rs. 38043.64 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 3351674 with a total turnover of Rs. 206267.58 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 450203794 with a total turnover of Rs. 67562841.75 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 7894310 with a total turnover of Rs. 525273.72 Crore.



The FIIs on 27/10/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 10093.55 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 846.56 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 11057.11 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 13.51 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -963.56 Crore and Rs. 833.05
