Sensex plunges 300 points; IT, Financial Services laggards

Indian benchmark indices extended losses during the noon trading session amid selling seen in index heavyweights including Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Asian Paints Ltd.ITC Ltd, ICICI Bank Ltd, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd among others.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73333.4 down by -273.35 points or by -0.37 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22672.05 down by -81.15 points or by -0.36 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73762.98 and intraday low of 73179.41 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22829.75 and intraday low of 22636.85



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1964.50,+2.48%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 252.10,+2.23%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 2807.20,+1.61%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 368.15,+1.28%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1762.00,+1.09%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1784.95,-1.93%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2280.00,-1.85%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 256.30,-1.57%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1381.80,-1.44%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2501.65,-1.35%), among others.



HCS index was at 48935.84 up by 1114.41 points or by 2.33%. Acutaas Chemicals Ltd. (Rs. 3874.95,+15.74%), OneSource Specialty Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 1588.05,+13.73%), One Global Service Provider Ltd. (Rs. 444.05,+10.00%), Mankind Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 2521.00,+9.51%), Eris Lifesciences Ltd. (Rs. 1195.35,+8.19%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4672 , shares advanced were 2759 while 1661 shares declined and 252 were unchanged.
