Sensex down 54 points; IT, Oil & Gas stocks weigh

Indian benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50, declined in early trade on Tuesday, weighed down by persistently elevated crude oil prices and selling pressure in IT stocks.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73552.08 down by -54.67 points or by -0.07 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22724.15 down by -29.05 points or by -0.13 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73686.18 and intraday low of 73210.76 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22804.5 and intraday low of 22653.2



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1958.80,+2.18%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 371.00,+2.06%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 11415.00,+1.92%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 2815.00,+1.89%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 250.95,+1.76%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1766.40,-2.95%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2480.05,-2.21%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1140.35,-2.12%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1399.60,-1.30%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1776.80,-1.18%), among others.



HCS index was at 48677.38 up by 855.95 points or by 1.79%. One Global Service Provider Ltd. (Rs. 442.70,+9.66%), Mankind Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 2492.00,+8.25%), OneSource Specialty Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 1489.15,+6.65%), Eris Lifesciences Ltd. (Rs. 1175.10,+6.35%), Gaudium IVF And Women Health Ltd. (Rs. 97.90,+5.72%),.



In BSE, BSE_CGS index was at 69996.32 up by 1090.07 points or by 1.58%. Data Patterns (India) Ltd. (Rs. 4002.10,+6.11%), Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd. (Rs. 1892.85,+4.19%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4088 , shares advanced were 2823 while 1050 shares declined and 215 were unchanged.
