Sensex up 539 points; TCS, HCLTech gain

Despite negative global cues, Indian benchmark indices continued to trade higher during the morning trading session on Tuesday.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 72464.67 up by 539.99 points or by 0.75 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22471.4 up by 108.05 points or by 0.48 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 72495.23 and intraday low of 71703.56 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22478.2 and intraday low of 22288.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1278.00,+4.75%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2222.45,+4.49%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1513.75,+2.98%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1040.35,+2.30%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 2961.00,+1.75%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 307.30,-1.00%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 248.10,-0.46%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 11276.70,-0.41%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 441.25,-0.40%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3628.00,-0.05%), among others.



IT index was at 27954.38 up by 734.44 points or by 2.7%. Birlasoft Ltd. (Rs. 287.50,+5.06%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1278.00,+4.75%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2222.45,+4.49%), R Systems International Ltd. (Rs. 273.10,+4.46%), Mphasis Ltd. (Rs. 2433.30,+3.83%),.



Power index was at 6968.05 down by -56.23 points or by -0.8%. Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 30000.00,-3.85%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 4107.15,-3.63%), CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 844.00,-2.11%), Thermax Ltd. (Rs. 3253.00,-1.71%), Siemens Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 3062.35,-1.21%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3578 , shares advanced were 1587 while 1798 shares declined and 193 were unchanged.
