Post-Session: Sensex ends 547 points lower, Nifty near 22,350

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty pared their intraday gains and ended sharply lower on Monday, October 12, falling over 0.7% as investors booked profits amid selling pressure in the market.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 71924.68 down by -547.65 points or by -0.76 % and then NSE Nifty was at 22363.35 down by -157.1 points or by -0.7 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 72884.25 and intraday low of 71676.1 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 22651.1 and intraday low of 22304.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 373.60,+1.38%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 2815.45,+0.84%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 443.00,+0.66%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1220.00,+0.47%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 960.85,+0.28%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 257.60,-3.23%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1470.00,-3.10%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1822.00,-2.10%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3629.90,-1.87%), State Bank of India (Rs. 941.00,-1.78%), among others.



CGS index was at 74254.37 up by 962.67 points or by 1.31%. Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 39.59,+5.35%), PTC Industries Ltd. (Rs. 25713.45,+4.76%), Astral Ltd. (Rs. 1438.85,+2.33%), Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. (Rs. 4755.90,+2.04%), Polycab India Ltd. (Rs. 8414.00,+1.99%),.





FMCG index was at 16827.62 down by -228.73 points or by -1.34%. Sundrop Brands Ltd. (Rs. 659.05,-3.95%), Nurture Well Industries Ltd. (Rs. 19.28,-3.60%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 257.60,-3.23%), Kwality Wall's (India) Ltd. (Rs. 36.24,-3.05%), Continental Construction Ltd. (Rs. 98.60,-3.00%),

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4967 , shares advanced were 2387 while 2299 shares declined and 281 were unchanged.
