Post-Session: Sensex recovers 315 pts on buying in banking, oil & gas stocks

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty recovered on Friday, supported by buying interest in heavyweight banking, oil and gas, and automobile stocks after the sharp decline seen in recent sessions.



The rebound came as investors looked for opportunities in select blue-chip counters following the recent market sell-off.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 73895.74 up by 315.2 points or by 0.43 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23140.5 up by 77.4 points or by 0.34 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73968.05 and intraday low of 73477.77 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23162.7 and intraday low of 23020.95



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1220.00,+2.82%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3031.35,+2.24%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2445.00,+1.93%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 995.00,+1.21%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1259.40,+1.17%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Trent Ltd. (Rs. 2666.00,-1.41%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1000.95,-0.81%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 403.40,-0.47%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1326.50,-0.41%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 187.70,-0.37%), among others.



CDS index was at 61053.01 up by 690.92 points or by 1.14%. Blue Star Ltd. (Rs. 1570.00,+2.95%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2445.00,+1.93%), Berger Paints (India) Ltd. (Rs. 457.00,+1.60%), Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. (Rs. 13409.00,+1.20%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4879.00,+1.01%),.



HCS index was at 51596.1 down by -256.74 points or by -0.5%. Medico Remedies Ltd. (Rs. 26.14,-19.99%), Fortis Healthcare Ltd. (Rs. 835.10,-4.97%), Orchid Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 1060.05,-3.33%), Max Healthcare Institute Ltd. (Rs. 1014.00,-3.20%), Sigachi Industries Ltd. (Rs. 29.40,-3.16%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4806 , shares advanced were 2398 while 2159 shares declined and 249 were unchanged.
