Sensex jumps over 300 points, auto gains nearly 1%

The Nifty50 and the Sensex extended gains during the noon trading session supported by buying in index heavyweights including Axis Bank Ltd, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Asian Paints Ltd.HDFC Bank Ltd. and HCL Technologies Ltd. among others.



At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73883.13 up by 302.59 points or by 0.41 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23118.9 up by 55.8 points or by 0.24 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73968.05 and intraday low of 73477.77 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23162.7 and intraday low of 23020.95



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1223.10,+3.08%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3041.00,+2.56%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2433.95,+1.47%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 737.90,+1.16%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1258.25,+1.08%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 996.30,-1.27%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 2670.60,-1.24%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 401.80,-0.86%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1326.05,-0.45%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 334.75,-0.37%), among others.



Auto index was at 59684.59 up by 597.96 points or by 1.01%. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3040.70,+2.55%), Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (Rs. 2110.75,+2.36%), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 165.75,+1.81%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 5376.50,+1.81%), TVS Motor Company Ltd. (Rs. 4156.00,+1.59%),.



HCS index was at 51571.42 down by -281.42 points or by -0.54%. Medico Remedies Ltd. (Rs. 26.15,-19.96%), Fortis Healthcare Ltd. (Rs. 839.20,-4.50%), Suraksha Diagnostic Ltd. (Rs. 342.60,-3.59%), Max Healthcare Institute Ltd. (Rs. 1012.55,-3.34%), Sigachi Industries Ltd. (Rs. 29.43,-3.06%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4701 , shares advanced were 2288 while 2177 shares declined and 236 were unchanged.
