Mid-Session: Sensex plunges 823 points; Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank top losers

Indian stock market benchmarks traded sharply lower on Thursday, with the Nifty hovering around the 23,200 level.



At 12:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74004.66 down by -823.59 points or by -1.1 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23205.85 down by -240.95 points or by -1.03 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74362.29 and intraday low of 73983.19 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23281.95 and intraday low of 23190.3



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1558.55,+0.23%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4890.00,+0.20%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2088.50,+0.12%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 988.50,-4.95%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1184.20,-4.85%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1775.15,-3.84%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3870.00,-1.48%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4955.95,-1.47%), among others.



Realty index was at 6809.66 up by 11.06 points or by 0.16%. Aditya Birla Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 1240.00,+2.75%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1859.50,+1.37%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1169.60,+0.52%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 676.75,+0.41%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1995.75,+0.05%),.



Bankex index was at 62872.07 down by -1044.45 points or by -1.63%. Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1185.30,-4.76%), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1011.10,-3.90%), IDFC First Bank Ltd. (Rs. 84.58,-3.77%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 925.00,-3.65%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 22.44,-3.44%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4493 , shares advanced were 1565 while 2696 shares declined and 232 were unchanged.
