Sensex trades flat, Nifty around 23,450

The Nifty 50 and Sensex opened higher, supported by continued weakness in oil prices and gains across global equity markets.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74962.4 up by 103.41 points or by 0.14 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23447.75 up by 33.45 points or by 0.14 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 75038.93 and intraday low of 74850.27 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23489 and intraday low of 23434.05



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 338.65,+1.09%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 747.90,+1.07%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1804.00,+0.89%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4906.00,+0.64%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12245.00,+0.60%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1255.55,-1.93%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1030.20,-0.94%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1544.30,-0.88%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2120.85,-0.43%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1860.15,-0.42%), among others.



CGS index was at 77601.18 up by 515.91 points or by 0.67%. HBL Engineering Ltd. (Rs. 767.90,+2.40%), Inox Wind Ltd. (Rs. 78.56,+2.00%), Siemens Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 3275.55,+1.83%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 4447.85,+1.64%), Carborundum Universal Ltd. (Rs. 1201.00,+1.57%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3657 , shares advanced were 2278 while 1183 shares declined and 196 were unchanged.
