Indian benchmark indices are likely to open on a positive note on September 22, tracking GIFT Nifty, which was trading around 23,515.50 in early trade.

The domestic market ended higher for the fourth consecutive session on September 21, maintaining its recent upward momentum.

On Monday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 74858.99 up by 564.03 points or by 0.76 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23414.3 up by 67.9 points or by 0.29 %.

On the global front, Asian stocks also tarded higher, South Korea's Kospi was up 1.6 per cent, while Australia's ASX 200 also gained 0.25 per cent. However, Japan's Nikkei 225 was closed for trading on Tuesday.

The S&P 500 climbed ​1.49% to end the session at 7,764.70 points. The Nasdaq gained 2.26% to 27,122.09 points, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.71% to 52,048.83 points.

Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 42948.14 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 666.99 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 38561.63 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1171.76 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 4386.51 Crore and Rs. -504.77
