Sensex rises 122 points, Nifty tops 23,300

The Nifty 50 and Sensex gained, supported by a recovery in Asian markets and easing oil prices.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74437.12 up by 122.53 points or by 0.16 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23300.95 up by 30.35 points or by 0.13 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74593.82 and intraday low of 74375.07 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23360.55 and intraday low of 23291.8



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1847.60,+1.10%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 327.25,+1.03%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3868.10,+0.99%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4896.10,+0.87%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1246.00,+0.64%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2130.00,-3.01%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1532.70,-1.69%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 185.75,-1.20%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1244.40,-0.92%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1047.55,-0.81%), among others.



Realty index was at 6610.11 up by 86.22 points or by 1.32%. Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1144.50,+3.85%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1711.80,+1.89%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1894.80,+1.18%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1759.00,+1.16%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1460.00,+1.04%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3354 , shares advanced were 2188 while 983 shares declined and 183 were unchanged.
