Stock markets firm after US Fed rate hike; NSE IPO in limelight

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were trading marginally higher on Thursday, supported by a slight easing in crude oil prices from recent highs. However, gains remained limited as investors stayed cautious following the US Federal Reserve’s rate hike and signals of further monetary tightening.



Further, The National Stock Exchange (NSE) IPO opened for subscription on Thursday. Alongside it, the IPOs of Sonaselection India, SpectraA Technology Solutions, and Kheria Autocomp also opened for subscription.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74432.08 up by 95.63 points or by 0.13 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23294.95 up by 77.35 points or by 0.33 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74589.8 and intraday low of 74163.95 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23325.4 and intraday low of 23193.65



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 327.05,+3.24%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 391.85,+1.41%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3113.25,+1.28%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4800.80,+1.20%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 184.45,+0.88%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 714.80,-1.05%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1050.40,-0.97%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1239.60,-0.92%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2173.20,-0.84%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1548.10,-0.45%), among others.



CGS index was at 75030.27 up by 801.87 points or by 1.08%. Kaynes Technology India Ltd. (Rs. 3540.00,+4.52%), HBL Engineering Ltd. (Rs. 732.00,+3.90%), Carborundum Universal Ltd. (Rs. 1082.00,+2.96%), AIA Engineering Ltd. (Rs. 3889.95,+2.62%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 419.00,+2.20%),.



IT index was at 27787.87 down by -153.4 points or by -0.55%. Zensar Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 434.65,-3.42%), eMudhra Ltd. (Rs. 629.00,-2.33%), Nintec Systems Ltd. (Rs. 696.65,-1.71%), Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd. (Rs. 11378.75,-1.25%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1050.40,-0.97%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4037 , shares advanced were 2525 while 1317 shares declined and 196 were unchanged.
