Mid-Session: Sensex rises 347 points; FMCG, PSU banks lead gains

Indian stock market benchmarks traded firmly higher on Wednesday, with the Sensex gaining nearly 347 points and the Nifty hovering near 23,250.



At 12:26 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74351.52 up by 347.7 points or by 0.47 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23233.05 up by 114.45 points or by 0.5 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74505.86 and intraday low of 73981.33 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23281.15 and intraday low of 23116.1



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 263.70,+2.21%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 388.60,+1.99%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1976.35,+1.87%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1241.50,+1.73%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 2778.10,+1.72%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2212.90,-1.65%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4730.05,-0.99%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1066.10,-0.92%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1564.60,-0.66%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3825.00,-0.65%), among others.



FMCG index was at 17299.92 up by 277.9 points or by 1.63%. Godavari Biorefineries Ltd. (Rs. 245.50,+8.10%), Patanjali Foods Ltd. (Rs. 353.80,+4.55%), Jagatjit Industries Ltd. (Rs. 164.00,+4.46%), Sula Vineyards Ltd. (Rs. 139.10,+3.73%), Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd. (Rs. 1890.90,+3.61%),.



IT index was at 28113.58 down by -228.81 points or by -0.81%. Capillary Technologies India Ltd. (Rs. 456.50,-3.34%), GNG Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 648.00,-3.33%), VL e-Governance & IT Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 10.12,-3.16%), Cyient Ltd. (Rs. 1046.40,-3.04%), MosChip Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 197.15,-3.03%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4502 , shares advanced were 1793 while 2481 shares declined and 228 were unchanged.
