Sensex, Nifty firm; M&M, Axis Bank top gainers

Market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty rebounded on Wednesday, supported by value buying after a sharp decline in the previous session.



At 10:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74328.12 up by 324.3 points or by 0.44 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23193.1 up by 74.5 points or by 0.32 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74505.86 and intraday low of 73981.33 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23281.15 and intraday low of 23116.1



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3092.95,+2.08%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1244.00,+1.94%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 262.25,+1.65%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1274.45,+1.55%), State Bank of India (Rs. 984.00,+1.51%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2228.45,-0.96%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 327.20,-0.85%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 182.05,-0.74%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3827.40,-0.59%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 314.20,-0.44%), among others.

FMCG index was at 17173.03 up by 151.01 points or by 0.89%. Godavari Biorefineries Ltd. (Rs. 253.60,+11.67%), Jagatjit Industries Ltd. (Rs. 164.85,+5.00%), Patanjali Foods Ltd. (Rs. 350.65,+3.62%), Marico Ltd. (Rs. 813.50,+2.71%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (Rs. 1003.90,+2.33%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4170 , shares advanced were 1356 while 2575 shares declined and 239 were unchanged.
