Sensex trim losses; TECK, IT stocks support

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty significantly pared losses during the late noon trading session amid buying in index heavyweights including HCL Technologies Ltd. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. HDFC Bank Ltd. ITC Ltd and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.among others.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74823.6 down by -78.99 points or by -0.11 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23417.15 down by -60.65 points or by -0.26 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74889.16 and intraday low of 74160.16 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23448.1 and intraday low of 23231.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1217.75,+1.75%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1542.50,+1.57%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 702.20,+1.18%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 261.30,+0.89%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1771.00,+0.76%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 183.00,-1.59%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1032.00,-1.34%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1841.20,-1.22%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1247.70,-0.98%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 10948.00,-0.95%), among others.



TECk index was at 14807.3 up by 92.65 points or by 0.63%. Sun TV Network Ltd. (Rs. 478.20,+5.03%), Indus Towers Ltd. (Rs. 388.95,+4.36%), PVR INOX Ltd. (Rs. 1245.40,+1.88%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1217.75,+1.75%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1542.50,+1.57%),.



Realty index was at 6620.28 down by -192.24 points or by -2.82%. Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1749.70,-6.38%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1106.20,-5.61%), Aditya Birla Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 1284.85,-3.86%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1499.00,-2.91%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 592.75,-2.62%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4698 , shares advanced were 1751 while 2698 shares declined and 249 were unchanged.
