Sensex tanks 674 points; NSE Nifty at 23256.05

Indian benchmark indices started the September 11 session on a weak note, extending losses amid subdued global market sentiment, with the Nifty slipping below the 23,300 level in early trade.



At 9:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74227.97 down by -674.62 points or by -0.9 % and then NSE

Nifty was at 23256.05 down by -221.75 points or by -0.94 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74354.97 and intraday low of 74160.16 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23277.3 and intraday low of 23231.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1543.55,+1.64%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1208.70,+0.99%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1041.15,+0.93%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 260.40,+0.54%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1844.55,+0.41%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1017.50,-2.72%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3077.50,-2.29%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4863.65,-2.12%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 182.35,-1.94%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 10845.25,-1.88%), among others.



TECk index was at 14778.63 up by 63.98 points or by 0.43%. Indus Towers Ltd. (Rs. 380.95,+2.21%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1543.55,+1.64%), Bharti Hexacom Ltd. (Rs. 1561.65,+1.46%), Sun TV Network Ltd. (Rs. 461.50,+1.36%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1208.70,+0.99%),.



Realty index was at 6528.18 down by -284.34 points or by -4.17%. Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1092.40,-6.79%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1758.00,-5.94%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3761 , shares advanced were 912 while 2688 shares declined and 161 were unchanged.
