Sensex flat with negative bias; metals, pharma drag

Indian benchmark indices remained largely flat with a negative bias in Thursday afternoon trade, with the Nifty holding just above the 23,400 mark.



At 14:35 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74688.06 down by -76.17 points or by -0.1 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23425.35 down by -6.15 points or by -0.03 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74910.96 and intraday low of 74666.1 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23494.95 and intraday low of 23403.05



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 271.20,+1.97%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1837.00,+1.00%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1516.50,+0.95%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 692.30,+0.73%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 10939.00,+0.39%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1203.50,-1.88%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 185.65,-1.54%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1845.50,-1.23%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 402.15,-1.00%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3123.50,-0.84%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 25781.98 up by 14.45 points or by 0.06%. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 236.75,+1.26%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 287.75,+0.81%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 153.60,+0.79%), Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 501.65,+0.53%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 350.40,+0.40%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4654 , shares advanced were 1962 while 2464 shares declined and 228 were unchanged.
