Markets trade flat amid elevated crude oil prices, geopolitical tensions

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were largely flat on Thursday, as crude oil prices holding above the USD 100-per-barrel level, coupled with ongoing geopolitical tensions, weighed on investor sentiment and kept market participants cautious.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74780.92 up by 16.69 points or by 0.02 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23426.75 down by -4.75 points or by -0.02 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74910.96 and intraday low of 74666.1 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23494.95 and intraday low of 23404.35



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1521.80,+1.30%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 269.30,+1.26%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1254.00,+1.17%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1008.75,+0.71%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1046.85,+0.66%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1213.70,-1.05%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3120.00,-0.95%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4923.60,-0.82%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12560.15,-0.54%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1860.25,-0.44%), among others.



Oil&Gas index was at 25906.56 up by 139.03 points or by 0.54%. Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 508.50,+1.90%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 237.75,+1.69%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 289.75,+1.51%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 153.70,+0.85%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 351.75,+0.79%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4089 , shares advanced were 1951 while 1927 shares declined and 211 were unchanged.
