Mid-Session: Sensex up 270 points; TECK, IT stocks support

Indian benchmark indices traded higher on Tuesday, with the Sensex gaining over 200 points and the Nifty hovering around 24,100, even as broader markets remained mixed.



At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77162.2 up by 204.93 points or by 0.27 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24108.4 up by 28 points or by 0.12 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 77231.87 and intraday low of 76764.26 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24143.15 and intraday low of 24009.5



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1367.40,+4.46%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 266.00,+3.80%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1869.80,+2.17%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 427.20,+2.14%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1150.55,+2.13%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 12960.00,-3.86%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5083.40,-1.94%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1979.30,-1.94%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1040.70,-1.82%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 5036.50,-1.55%), among others.



TECk index was at 15632.9 up by 245.48 points or by 1.6%. HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1367.40,+4.46%), Mphasis Ltd. (Rs. 2519.95,+4.13%), Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 5807.65,+3.50%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1869.80,+2.17%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1150.55,+2.13%),.



CDS index was at 64036.59 down by -690.2 points or by -1.07%. Kalyan Jewellers India Ltd. (Rs. 573.70,-6.62%), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 230.90,-1.74%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 5036.50,-1.55%), Berger Paints (India) Ltd. (Rs. 493.00,-1.23%), Havells India Ltd. (Rs. 1221.65,-0.57%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4519 , shares advanced were 2063 while 2214 shares declined and 243 were unchanged.
