Sensex, Nifty in red; PSU, Oil&Gas stocks weigh

Indian benchmark indices continued to trade lower during the late noon trading session amid selling in index heavyweights including Asian Paints Ltd, NTPC Ltd, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, State Bank of India and Hindustan Unilever Ltd among others.



At 14:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77926.39 down by -153.57 points or by -0.2 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24371.6 down by -24.25 points or by -0.1 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 78048.91 and intraday low of 77684.37 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24405.2 and intraday low of 24296.8



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1997.00,+2.78%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1693.15,+1.71%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 320.00,+0.63%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 5069.90,+0.38%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1412.10,+0.15%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2705.95,-1.84%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 339.15,-1.72%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1627.00,-1.39%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1066.40,-1.19%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2069.60,-1.13%), among others.



TECk index was at 15922.64 up by 105.46 points or by 0.67%. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 102.55,+5.89%), Vodafone Idea Ltd. (Rs. 14.12,+4.21%), Bharti Hexacom Ltd. (Rs. 1618.40,+3.42%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1998.00,+2.84%), Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 5582.05,+0.94%),.



PSU index was at 20899.72 down by -149.17 points or by -0.71%. National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 376.85,-6.47%), Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd. (Rs. 416.85,-6.23%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 371.65,-5.43%), Hindustan Copper Ltd. (Rs. 528.25,-2.98%), NBCC (India) Ltd. (Rs. 89.42,-2.80%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4637 , shares advanced were 1948 while 2457 shares declined and 232 were unchanged.
