Mid-Session: Sensex slips 242 points, Nifty around 24300

Indian benchmark indices extended their decline on Friday, with the Sensex dropping over 250 points and the Nifty trading near the 24,300 level, weighed down by broad-based weakness across sectors.



At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77837.32 down by -242.64 points or by -0.31 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24351.65 down by -44.2 points or by -0.18 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 77923.58 and intraday low of 77684.37 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24365 and intraday low of 24296.8



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1993.50,+2.60%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1685.25,+1.23%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 5076.05,+0.50%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 319.35,+0.42%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13923.00,+0.19%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2694.00,-2.27%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1617.20,-1.99%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 338.65,-1.87%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 182.60,-1.24%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1921.00,-1.12%), among others.



TECk index was at 15905.77 up by 88.59 points or by 0.56%. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 102.35,+5.68%), Vodafone Idea Ltd. (Rs. 14.08,+3.91%), Bharti Hexacom Ltd. (Rs. 1622.55,+3.68%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1993.50,+2.60%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 184.50,+0.68%),.



PSU index was at 20880.42 down by -168.47 points or by -0.8%. National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 378.55,-6.04%), Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd. (Rs. 418.50,-5.86%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 372.65,-5.18%), Hindustan Copper Ltd. (Rs. 525.15,-3.55%), REC Ltd. (Rs. 335.75,-2.68%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4419 , shares advanced were 1894 while 2295 shares declined and 230 were unchanged.
