Post-Session: Sensex sheds 71 points; Nifty settles at 24,366

Indian benchmark indices remained under pressure on August 14, with the Nifty extending its losing streak to the fourth straight session, dragged down by selling across metal, auto and IT stocks. Persistent concerns over elevated crude oil prices and geopolitical tensions kept investors cautious.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 78009.25 down by -70.71 points or by -0.09 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24366 down by -29.85 points or by -0.12 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 78048.91 and intraday low of 77684.37 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24405.2 and intraday low of 24296.8



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1992.00,+2.53%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1695.00,+1.82%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1418.00,+0.57%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 5079.00,+0.56%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3439.00,+0.35%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2710.00,-1.69%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5315.00,-1.39%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 341.00,-1.19%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 266.50,-1.08%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1068.00,-1.04%), among others.



TECk index was at 15920.04 up by 102.86 points or by 0.65%. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 102.20,+5.52%), Vodafone Idea Ltd. (Rs. 14.10,+4.06%), Bharti Hexacom Ltd. (Rs. 1610.00,+2.88%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1992.00,+2.53%), Mphasis Ltd. (Rs. 2569.00,+1.34%),.



PSU index was at 20903.5 down by -145.39 points or by -0.69%. National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 376.00,-6.68%), Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd. (Rs. 416.90,-6.22%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4740 , shares advanced were 2068 while 2443 shares declined and 229 were unchanged.
