Sensex falls 215 points; Nifty near 24,300

Indian benchmark indices declined on Friday as crude oil prices remained elevated after the US threatened an indefinite naval blockade, adding to investor concerns over geopolitical tensions and their potential impact on global markets.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77864.42 down by -215.54 points or by -0.28 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24325.75 down by -70.1 points or by -0.29 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 77923.58 and intraday low of 77722.93 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24365 and intraday low of 24304.3



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 323.95,+1.87%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 5085.00,+0.68%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1095.50,+0.44%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1671.10,+0.38%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 729.25,+0.31%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 182.20,-1.46%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 341.30,-1.10%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3390.00,-1.08%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 266.50,-1.08%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5332.05,-1.08%), among others.

CDS index was at 65686.98 up by 98.21 points or by 0.15%. Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 1306.25,+1.36%), Berger Paints (India) Ltd. (Rs. 552.75,+1.33%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 5085.00,+0.68%), Kalyan Jewellers India Ltd. (Rs. 612.95,+0.29%), Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd. (Rs. 14070.00,+0.14%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3621 , shares advanced were 1786 while 1667 shares declined and 168 were unchanged.
