Sensex, Nifty marginally lower; metal stocks drag

Indian benchmark indices pared most of their losses in Thursday afternoon trade, although the Nifty continued to trade in negative territory near the 24,400 level.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77874.81 down by -91.54 points or by -0.12 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24360.8 down by -75.15 points or by -0.31 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 78119.39 and intraday low of 77665.89 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24431.6 and intraday low of 24311.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5348.20,+2.06%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 410.60,+1.63%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 318.05,+1.61%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2087.00,+1.42%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1647.60,+1.39%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11678.15,-1.33%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1410.00,-1.26%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 5045.80,-1.18%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1315.40,-0.88%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1650.80,-0.85%), among others.



Realty index was at 7014.57 up by 114.57 points or by 1.66%. Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1241.00,+3.42%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1834.80,+2.50%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1614.40,+2.50%), Aditya Birla Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 1401.55,+1.87%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 625.60,+1.81%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4656 , shares advanced were 2238 while 2177 shares declined and 241 were unchanged.
