Mid-Session: Sensex, Nifty recover; FMCG gains, metals drag

Indian benchmark indices erased their early losses and traded largely flat, with the Nifty hovering around the 24,400 level.



At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77972.05 up by 5.7 points or by 0.01 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24392.15 down by -43.8 points or by -0.18 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 78119.39 and intraday low of 77665.89 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24431.6 and intraday low of 24311.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5340.65,+1.92%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 318.45,+1.74%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1651.35,+1.62%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2036.75,+1.38%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 409.55,+1.37%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 5020.00,-1.68%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11668.55,-1.41%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1647.60,-1.05%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1313.35,-1.04%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1414.50,-0.95%), among others.



Realty index was at 7002.61 up by 102.61 points or by 1.49%. Aditya Birla Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 1428.30,+3.82%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1236.75,+3.06%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1842.90,+2.96%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1604.35,+1.86%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 664.05,+1.35%),.



Metal index was at 41776.98 down by -341.06 points or by -0.81%. National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 406.10,-2.96%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4466 , shares advanced were 2252 while 1979 shares declined and 235 were unchanged.
