Stock markets in red amid geopolitical uncertainty

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty traded lower on Thursday, weighed down by elevated crude oil prices and continued uncertainty surrounding the unresolved situation in the Strait of Hormuz.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77757.91 down by -208.44 points or by -0.27 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24322.05 down by -113.9 points or by -0.47 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 78119.39 and intraday low of 77665.89 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24431.6 and intraday low of 24311.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 318.25,+1.68%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5304.70,+1.23%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1960.65,+1.00%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1639.00,+0.86%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 407.15,+0.78%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11617.95,-1.84%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 5016.80,-1.75%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1159.65,-1.37%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1311.70,-1.16%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 266.35,-1.11%), among others.



Realty index was at 6960.83 up by 60.83 points or by 0.88%. Aditya Birla Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 1419.45,+3.17%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 1222.10,+1.84%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1596.65,+1.37%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 662.60,+1.13%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1810.00,+1.12%),.



CDS index was at 64954.71 down by -483.08 points or by -0.74%. Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 5016.80,-1.75%), Berger Paints (India) Ltd. (Rs. 553.40,-1.16%), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4142 , shares advanced were 2146 while 1774 shares declined and 222 were unchanged.
