Mid-Session: Sensex surges 615 points; NSE Nifty at 24606.4

Indian benchmark indices traded sharply higher during the noon trade on Monday, with the Nifty reclaiming the 24,600 mark amid broad-based buying across sectors.



At 12:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 78709.97 up by 615.33 points or by 0.79 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24606.4 up by 222.8 points or by 0.91 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 78895.1 and intraday low of 78497.34 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24608.8 and intraday low of 24515.15



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5387.00,+4.18%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1166.00,+3.19%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2437.70,+3.05%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 287.75,+2.42%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 2074.30,+2.21%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1945.00,-1.33%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1964.30,-1.26%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1644.50,-0.43%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 14182.90,-0.40%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 346.60,-0.16%), among others.



_IT index was at 30154.32 up by 652.03 points or by 2.21%. Genesys International Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 298.30,+9.99%), Excelsoft Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 83.50,+7.99%), LTM Ltd. (Rs. 4704.00,+7.91%), Birlasoft Ltd. (Rs. 320.35,+5.94%), Sonata Software Ltd. (Rs. 340.15,+5.60%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4623 , shares advanced were 3040 while 1333 shares declined and 250 were unchanged.
