Sensex swings in choppy trade, IT stocks shine

Indian benchmark indices traded marginally higher as crude oil prices extended their decline, supported by signs of progress in negotiations between the US and Iran, which improved investor sentiment.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 76920.09 up by 84.31 points or by 0.11 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24015.55 up by 19.6 points or by 0.08 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 76988.48 and intraday low of 76738.49 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24040.9 and intraday low of 23968.15



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1624.85,+3.20%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2367.10,+3.13%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1111.00,+2.96%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1322.95,+2.09%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2203.80,+1.34%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 393.90,-3.24%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 344.95,-1.63%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 284.80,-1.42%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1014.30,-0.64%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1273.55,-0.51%), among others.



IT index was at 29187.96 up by 835.69 points or by 2.95%. Coforge Ltd. (Rs. 1661.25,+8.69%), Newgen Software Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 540.15,+6.58%), Hexaware Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 595.50,+6.19%), Affle 3I Ltd. (Rs. 1571.15,+5.23%), Intellect Design Arena Ltd. (Rs. 752.95,+4.97%),.



Power index was at 7628.15 down by -138.56 points or by -1.78%. CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 843.70,-3.81%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 4084.15,-2.78%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 406.05,-2.32%), Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 3643.00,-2.16%), Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 52.02,-2.13%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3412 , shares advanced were 1489 while 1725 shares declined and 198 were unchanged.
