Indian benchmark indices are expected to open on a weak note on July 23, with GIFT Nifty trading around 23,910 in early trade, indicating a subdued start for domestic markets.
In the previous session, benchmark indices extended their losing streak for a third straight day, pressured by rising crude oil prices, a sharp depreciation in the rupee, and profit booking in heavyweight stocks, which continued to weigh on overall market sentiment.
On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 76755.05 down by -715.06 points or by -0.92 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23996.25 down by -191.45 points or by -0.79 %.
On the global front, Asian markets advanced in early deals on Thursday as traders believed regional chip stocks would benefit from global spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi were trading 0.99 per cent and 3.49 per cent higher, respectively.
Overnight, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 settled 0.01 per cent and 0.14 per cent down, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite settled 0.57 per cent down
