Stock markets decline on surging crude oil prices

Market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty edged lower on Thursday due to surging crude oil prices amid escalating tensions in the West Asia.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 76659.02 down by -96.03 points or by -0.13 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23954.8 down by -41.45 points or by -0.17 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 76680.07 and intraday low of 76344.67 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23969.95 and intraday low of 23876.2



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 294.00,+3.74%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3235.00,+1.90%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 384.45,+0.85%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 282.15,+0.48%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1243.15,+0.48%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 1049.70,-1.00%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1802.30,-0.94%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 746.65,-0.86%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 347.55,-0.86%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 185.00,-0.80%), among others.



Auto index was at 60708.4 up by 690.64 points or by 1.15%. Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 5156.40,+3.43%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 11268.00,+2.44%), Bosch Ltd. (Rs. 42455.00,+2.21%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3235.00,+1.90%), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 146.30,+1.88%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3957 , shares advanced were 1851 while 1880 shares declined and 226 were unchanged.
