Markets decline on higher crude oil prices, selling in bank stocks

Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were trading lower on Wednesday as higher crude oil prices and selling in bank stocks hit investors' sentiment.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 76796.43 down by -673.68 points or by -0.87 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24002.1 down by -185.6 points or by -0.77 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 77384.95 and intraday low of 76722.21 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24166.3 and intraday low of 23973.7



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4704.95,+0.36%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2693.00,+0.03%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13593.50,+0.00%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 5116.80,-3.64%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1026.40,-1.71%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1238.10,-1.57%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1057.90,-1.44%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 380.95,-1.30%), among others.



Auto index was at 60047.29 up by 24.86 points or by 0.04%. Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 10770.00,+3.48%), TVS Motor Company Ltd. (Rs. 3915.15,+3.26%), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 146.20,+0.58%), Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (Rs. 1957.30,+0.10%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13593.50,+0.00%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4031 , shares advanced were 1313 while 2499 shares declined and 219 were unchanged.
