Post-Session: Sensex ends 608 pts down, Nifty at 24,013 on IT sell-off

Indian benchmark indices ended in red on Friday, with the Sensex declining more than 600 points and the Nifty50 hovering just above the 24,000 level.



The sharp weakness was largely driven by a selloff in information technology stocks after global IT major Accenture issued a subdued sales and revenue outlook. The disappointing guidance raised concerns over growth prospects for the IT sector, triggering broad-based selling in technology shares and weighing on overall market sentiment.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 76802.9 down by -607.08 points or by -0.78 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24013.1 down by -154.9 points or by -0.64 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 76901.65 and intraday low of 76469.72 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24047.2 and intraday low of 23901.9



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 264.20,+2.21%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1908.60,+1.80%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 292.40,+1.32%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 365.75,+1.04%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4423.20,+0.84%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1051.85,-6.69%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2126.40,-3.53%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1129.80,-2.74%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1410.80,-2.47%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 780.00,-2.32%), among others.



CGS index was at 83600.96 up by 916.73 points or by 1.11%. Jyoti CNC Automation Ltd. (Rs. 739.95,+5.70%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 5545.25,+5.70%), PTC Industries Ltd. (Rs. 18374.60,+5.36%), Bharat Dynamics Ltd. (Rs. 1371.90,+4.59%), Carborundum Universal Ltd. (Rs. 1240.65,+4.08%),.



IT index was at 26829.46 down by -992.4 points or by -3.57%. Magellanic Cloud Ltd. (Rs. 29.23,-7.53%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1051.85,-6.69%), Sonata Software Ltd. (Rs. 297.55,-4.29%), LTM Ltd. (Rs. 3830.55,-4.12%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2126.40,-3.53%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4698 , shares advanced were 2313 while 2150 shares declined and 235 were unchanged.
