Sensex, Nifty in red as IT stocks drag

Stock market benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty tumbled on Friday after a five-day rally, dragged by heavy selling in IT firms following revenue growth guidance cut by Accenture.



At 10:25 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 76715.22 down by -694.76 points or by -0.9 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24010.35 down by -157.65 points or by -0.65 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 76858.8 and intraday low of 76578.08 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24011.25 and intraday low of 23938.75



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1899.80,+1.33%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 366.45,+1.23%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 963.15,+0.42%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 289.50,+0.31%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1331.60,+0.29%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1042.10,-7.55%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2077.50,-5.75%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1378.45,-4.71%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1109.35,-4.50%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 781.70,-2.11%), among others.



Power index was at 8251.95 up by 46.52 points or by 0.57%. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 411.45,+1.35%), GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 5315.00,+1.31%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 366.45,+1.23%), Suzlon Energy Ltd. (Rs. 59.15,+1.20%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 36445.00,+0.44%),.

IT index was at 26400.74 down by -1421.12 points or by -5.11%. Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1042.10,-7.55%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2077.50,-5.75%), Mphasis Ltd. (Rs. 2209.20,-5.55%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1378.45,-4.71%), Persistent Systems Ltd. (Rs. 4703.00,-4.71%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4012 , shares advanced were 2096 while 1671 shares declined and 245 were unchanged.
