Sensex, Nifty flat; bank, media, pharma up

Indian benchmark indices traded in positive territory during a volatile session on Thursday, with the Nifty continuing to hold above the 24,100 mark, supported by selective buying across sectors.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77203.59 up by 47.97 points or by 0.06 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24088.35 up by 2.65 points or by 0.01 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 77337.78 and intraday low of 76953 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24139.65 and intraday low of 24036.95



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4998.00,+2.45%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 3173.10,+2.30%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 362.25,+1.93%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 427.45,+1.82%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1041.20,+1.48%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1128.30,-2.57%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13444.90,-1.37%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2193.15,-1.33%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1445.00,-1.16%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1156.40,-0.86%), among others.



Power index was at 8174.02 up by 75.17 points or by 0.93%. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 406.90,+3.76%), Adani Power Ltd. (Rs. 227.75,+3.36%), Torrent Power Ltd. (Rs. 1446.40,+2.79%), NHPC Ltd. (Rs. 76.22,+2.39%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 362.25,+1.93%),.



_IT index was at 27799.76 down by -337.27 points or by -1.2%. Silver Touch Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 185.85,-4.98%), Nintec Systems Ltd. (Rs. 677.05,-3.00%), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 753.00,-2.68%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1128.30,-2.57%), Hexaware Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 491.70,-2.30%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4587 , shares advanced were 2320 while 2045 shares declined and 222 were unchanged.
