Sensex up 1035 points; Trent, Eternal top gainers

Indian benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty 50, witnessed strong gains as easing geopolitical tensions following the US-Iran peace agreement boosted investor confidence and encouraged risk-taking across markets.



At 14:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 76562.96 up by 1035.01 points or by 1.37 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23900.5 up by 277.6 points or by 1.18 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 76821.07 and intraday low of 76317.03 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24011.4 and intraday low of 23865.85



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Trent Ltd. (Rs. 2937.00,+6.62%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 254.55,+4.41%), InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4905.00,+4.17%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13907.00,+4.01%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1754.40,+3.86%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 349.00,-1.40%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1335.90,-0.33%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1427.00,-0.17%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1805.65,-0.09%), among others.



Realty index was at 6275.53 up by 265.03 points or by 4.41%. Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1476.80,+6.53%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1779.50,+5.31%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 617.25,+5.13%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1845.60,+4.96%), Embassy Developments Ltd. (Rs. 61.81,+4.64%),.



_HCS index was at 47203.62 down by -184.65 points or by -0.39%. Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 1403.95,-4.64%), Shree Ganesh Remedies Ltd. (Rs. 574.00,-4.41%), Nephrocare Health Services Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4812 , shares advanced were 3318 while 1220 shares declined and 275 were unchanged.
