Sensex surges 1,029 points, Nifty tops 23,950

The benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 surged on Monday as investor sentiment boosted following reports of a peace agreement between the US and Iran, easing geopolitical concerns and boosting risk appetite globally.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 76557.55 up by 1029.6 points or by 1.36 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23956.75 up by 333.85 points or by 1.41 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 76821.07 and intraday low of 76524.17 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24011.4 and intraday low of 23934.1



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4909.00,+4.25%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 252.50,+3.57%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1748.70,+3.52%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 4176.00,+3.11%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 943.75,+2.73%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1805.00,-0.12%), among others.



Realty index was at 6171.69 up by 161.19 points or by 2.68%. Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1759.60,+4.14%), Embassy Developments Ltd. (Rs. 61.48,+4.08%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 926.25,+2.92%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1667.00,+2.71%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 603.05,+2.71%),.



Auto index was at 59201.27 up by 1288.7 points or by 2.23%. Ashok Leyland Ltd. (Rs. 159.75,+4.75%), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. (Rs. 405.95,+4.25%), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 148.85,+3.80%), UNO Minda Ltd. (Rs. 1094.80,+3.52%), MRF Ltd. (Rs. 129760.00,+3.43%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3789 , shares advanced were 3013 while 560 shares declined and 216 were unchanged.
