Sensex surges 800 points; NSE Nifty at 23401.2

The Nifty 50 and Sensex advanced sharply on Friday, supported by optimistic global market sentiment as easing tensions in West Asia boosted hopes for regional stability.



At 9:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74635.05 up by 802.5 points or by 1.09 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23401.2 up by 239.6 points or by 1.03 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74859.16 and intraday low of 74632.22 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23455.95 and intraday low of 23400.55



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4660.60,+3.53%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 242.20,+2.95%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3954.10,+2.45%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 889.65,+2.22%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 758.00,+1.80%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1456.95,-0.53%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 197.60,-0.20%), among others.



Realty index was at 5908.48 up by 104.2 points or by 1.8%. Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 527.65,+2.76%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 887.00,+2.22%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1655.85,+2.18%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 662.35,+2.14%), Embassy Developments Ltd. (Rs. 57.60,+2.02%),.



IT index was at 27150.36 down by 89.06 points or by 0.33%. Dynacons Systems & Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 1284.00,-1.61%), Genesys International Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 327.10,-1.28%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3483 , shares advanced were 2774 while 544 shares declined and 165 were unchanged.
