Sensex, Nifty marginally down; IT, TECK stocks weigh

Indian benchmark indices were trading lower on Thursday as heightened geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran kept investors cautious and weighed on market sentiment.



At 10:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 73922.16 down by -61.02 points or by -0.08 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23176.9 down by -38.05 points or by -0.16 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 73972.38 and intraday low of 73518.75 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23191.85 and intraday low of 23072.05



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1319.75,+2.05%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1790.00,+0.82%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1324.00,+0.72%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 390.10,+0.54%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1265.50,+0.47%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1101.00,-2.74%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1118.10,-2.35%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 2707.45,-1.65%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 236.30,-1.38%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2143.40,-1.19%), among others.



HCS index was at 47276.74 up by 293.41 points or by 0.62%. Unichem Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 493.25,+12.26%), Indoco Remedies Ltd. (Rs. 223.70,+8.88%), Blue Jet Healthcare Ltd (Rs. 508.55,+8.27%), RPG Life Sciences Ltd. (Rs. 2277.25,+7.92%), Senores Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Rs. 1184.00,+6.48%),.



IT index was at 27137.44 down by -414.91 points or by -1.51%. Nucleus Software Exports Ltd. (Rs. 769.85,-4.64%), Dynacons Systems & Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 1323.00,-3.65%), Magellanic Cloud Ltd. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3974 , shares advanced were 1622 while 2131 shares declined and 221 were unchanged.
