Post-Session: Sensex ends 400 points higher, Nifty settles near 23,250

The benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty recovered on Tuesday, supported by a sharp fall in crude oil prices and robust buying interest in banking stocks.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 73918.76 up by 394.5 points or by 0.54 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23242.1 up by 119.1 points or by 0.52 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74035.41 and intraday low of 73426.18 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23279.4 and intraday low of 23104.45



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4537.60,+4.04%), State Bank of India (Rs. 1002.85,+2.13%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1275.40,+2.03%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1292.45,+1.92%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 886.90,+1.84%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 4104.35,-2.08%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 355.65,-1.96%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 285.70,-1.64%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1487.40,-1.02%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 245.65,-1.01%), among others.



Bankex index was at 62264.81 up by 1326.07 points or by 2.18%. Bank of Baroda (Rs. 273.80,+5.65%), Canara Bank (Rs. 137.50,+4.29%), Punjab National Bank (Rs. 109.70,+3.69%), Federal Bank Ltd. (Rs. 315.15,+3.40%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 923.90,+3.24%),.



TECk index was at 14713.06 down by -88.1 points or by -0.6%. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 107.74,-3.04%), Indus Towers Ltd. (Rs. 419.00,-1.71%), Vodafone Idea Ltd. (Rs. 14.14,-1.67%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1487.40,-1.02%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1797.90,-0.98%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4664 , shares advanced were 2932 while 1497 shares declined and 235 were unchanged.
