Sensex up 260 points; private banks lead, pharma lags

Indian benchmark indices continued to trade higher on Friday driven by sustained buying interest in financial and banking stocks.



At 14:40 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 75444.27 up by 260.91 points or by 0.35 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23760 up by 105.3 points or by 0.45 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 75810.97 and intraday low of 75230.75 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23835.65 and intraday low of 23671



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Trent Ltd. (Rs. 4288.45,+2.84%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1282.50,+2.31%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2656.90,+2.25%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1263.85,+1.69%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2208.50,+1.36%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 294.25,-1.79%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 302.85,-1.67%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1861.00,-1.59%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 416.15,-1.08%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 1873.90,-0.60%), among others.



Bankex index was at 60776.86 up by 581.63 points or by 0.97%. Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1282.50,+2.31%), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd. (Rs. 976.70,+1.84%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1263.85,+1.69%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 21.81,+1.11%), Federal Bank Ltd. (Rs. 286.30,+0.88%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4514 , shares advanced were 2319 while 1964 shares declined and 231 were unchanged.
