Markets in red amid weak global peers, elevated oil prices

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty were trading lower on Wednesday as rising crude oil prices and weak global market sentiment dampened investor confidence. Concerns over escalating geopolitical tensions and the possibility of renewed military action in the Middle East also added pressure on equities during early trade.



At 10:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 74961.1 down by -239.75 points or by -0.32 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23478.05 down by -139.95 points or by -0.59 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 74992.17 and intraday low of 74529.41 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 23548.6 and intraday low of 23397.3



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1334.50,+0.92%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1773.55,+0.62%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1892.00,+0.52%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3934.85,+0.43%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2333.00,+0.23%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 411.40,-2.78%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 204.35,-2.37%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 243.75,-1.34%), UltraTech Cement Ltd. (Rs. 11271.00,-0.86%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2213.60,-0.82%), among others.



Power index was at 7982.02 up by 47.75 points or by 0.6%. GE Vernova T&D India Ltd. (Rs. 4725.60,+7.77%), Siemens Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 3322.00,+4.99%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd. (Rs. 34236.75,+2.57%), CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 827.25,+0.98%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 403.40,+0.59%),.



FMCG index was at 18620.46 down by -133.12 points or by -0.71%. KSE Ltd. (Rs. 190.80,-7.29%), Apex Frozen Foods Ltd. (Rs. 419.30,-2.88%), Mukka Proteins Ltd. (Rs. 22.70,-2.87%), Avanti Feeds Ltd. (Rs. 1233.15,-2.76%), Gokul Agro Resources Ltd. (Rs. 230.50,-2.70%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3893 , shares advanced were 1567 while 2095 shares declined and 231 were unchanged.
