Mid-Session: Indices continue to trade higher; Nifty near 24,300

Indian benchmarks continued to trade higher during the noon trading session on Wednesday, extending gains as broad-based buying lifted benchmarks sharply higher. The Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap were trading 0.76 per cent and 1.16 per cent higher, respectively.



Overseas, European stocks are seen opening on a mixed note Wednesday as investors await big tech earnings and Fed Chair Jerome Powell's comments for insights into the economic impact of the Middle East conflict.



Among key shares, Multi Commodity Exchange of India share price rose 2.6 per cent to a new high of ₹2,972 per share on the National Stock Exchange. Shares of renewable energy company Emmvee Photovoltaic Power rallied 10 per cent to hit a 52-week high of ₹299.50.



At 12:27 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77901.51 up by 1014.6 points or by 1.32 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24293.15 up by 297.45 points or by 1.24 %.



The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 77921.6 and intraday low of 77136.2 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24311.9 and intraday low of 24059.95.



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 13506.75,+4.77%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1455.15,+3.26%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 313.75,+3.05%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3170.70,+2.68%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2342.35,+2.36%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were InterGlobe Aviation Ltd. (Rs. 4416.60,-0.64%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 214.90,-0.07%), among others.



Among the sectors, Realty index was at 6266.7 up by 136.6 points or by 2.23%. Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 914.50,+3.55%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1819.00,+3.28%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 1444.20,+2.76%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1868.75,+2.36%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 601.65,+2.33%),.



On the flip side, BSE Power index was at 8256.95 down by -6.62 points or by -0.08%. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 346.70,-2.34%), JSW Energy Ltd. (Rs. 568.05,-2.20%), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 454.75,-1.47%), Torrent Power Ltd. (Rs. 1726.50,-1.41%), Adani Power Ltd. (Rs. 222.25,-0.58%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4400 , shares advanced were 2561 while 1635 shares declined and 204 were unchanged.
