Indian equities opened in the positive territory on Wednesday, amid mixed global cues. Broader markets outperformed the benchmark indices. The Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap were trading 0.57 per cent and 0.68 per cent higher, respectively.
On the corporate front, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers shares jumped 15 per cent as the company reported that its net profit grew 24.1 per cent. HFCL stock has surged over 57 per cent thus far in April and seems on course to log its biggest monthly gain in over 5 years.
On the currency front, Indian rupee opened 20 paise lower at 94.74 per dollar on Wednesday against previous close of 94.54.
At 9:57 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77460.2 up by 573.29 points or by 0.75 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24141.35 up by 145.65 points or by 0.61 %.
