Sensex, Nifty trade flat; PSU Banks drag

The Indian equities were fluctuating between gains on losses in Tuesday's early deals. Broader markets outperformed the benchmark indices. The Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap were trading 0.36 per cent and 0.81 per cent higher, respectively.



Overseas, Asian stock markets are trading mostly lower on Tuesday, following the mixed cues from Wall Street on Monday, as traders remain cautious amid the uncertainty about the opening of the Strait of Hormuz even as crude oil prices keep soaring.



On the corporate front, SBI Cards and Payment Services shares slipped 2.8 per cent in trade on BSE, logging an intra-day low at ₹651.65 per share.



Meanwhile, the rupee opened 18 paise lower against the US dollar at 94.37 against Monday's close of 94.19 a dollar.



At 9:34 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77270.17 down by -33.46 points or by -0.04 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24049.9 down by -42.8 points or by -0.18 %.



On the sectoral front, BSE Oil&Gas index was at 27651.83 up by 223.5 points or by 0.81%. Adani Total Gas Ltd. (Rs. 673.05,+5.81%), Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 489.45,+2.83%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 291.55,+1.99%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 166.20,+0.79%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 166.75,+0.63%),.



Among others, BSE Realty index was at 6123.05 down by -40.72 points or by -0.66%. Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 1752.30,-2.85%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 1418.00,-0.94%), Anant Raj Ltd. (Rs. 497.35,-0.67%), Lodha Developers Ltd. (Rs. 875.40,-0.52%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 1715.05,-0.50%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3577 , shares advanced were 2062 while 1338 shares declined and 177 were unchanged.
