Mid-Session: Sensex up 526 points; Sun Pharma, Adani Ports top gainers

The Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex trimmed some of their intraday gains, weighed down by declines in Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and Shriram Finance Limited shares.



At 12:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 77191.19 up by 526.98 points or by 0.69 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24040.5 up by 142.55 points or by 0.6 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 77341.53 and intraday low of 76754.2 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24107.6 and intraday low of 23936.2



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1735.00,+7.10%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 1621.90,+2.27%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2449.85,+2.19%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 410.30,+2.14%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3102.05,+2.11%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1317.45,-3.56%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 434.95,-2.15%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1320.00,-0.48%), Trent Ltd. (Rs. 4289.65,-0.27%), Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (Rs. 1768.25,-0.12%), among others.



HCS index was at 44657.4 up by 1040.48 points or by 2.39%. Cohance Lifesciences Ltd. (Rs. 432.70,+19.99%), Blue Jet Healthcare Ltd (Rs. 443.75,+9.99%), Supriya Lifescience Ltd. (Rs. 701.60,+8.57%), Shalby Ltd. (Rs. 168.10,+8.42%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1735.00,+7.10%),.



Bankex index was at 63157.5 down by -30.81 points or by -0.05%. Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1317.45,-3.56%), Au Small Finance Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1039.00,-2.50%), Canara Bank (Rs. 139.90,-0.71%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1320.00,-0.48%), Union Bank of India (Rs. 176.20,-0.45%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4569 , shares advanced were 3072 while 1240 shares declined and 257 were unchanged.
